  2. Make an access request — you'll need evidence of your disability from a doctor or specialist
  3. The NDIS decides if you're eligible (usually within 21 days)
  4. If eligible, you'll have a planning meeting to discuss your goals and supports
  5. You receive a funded plan and choose your providers

Finding Providers

You choose your own NDIS providers — they're not assigned to you. Use the NDIS provider finder or search on ProviderScout to compare providers in your area.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the NDIS free?

NDIS-funded supports are free to participants. You don't pay for the supports in your plan — the NDIS pays providers directly (or reimburses you if you're self-managed).

Can I choose my own providers?

Yes. The NDIS gives you choice and control. You can choose registered or (if self/plan-managed) unregistered providers.

What if I'm over 65?

You can't apply for the NDIS after turning 65. If you're already a participant before 65, you can stay on. Over-65s access support through the aged care system (My Aged Care).
